Unbinding classical chamber music from its formal attire,
and binding it more closely to our hearts and souls.

Something's happening this summer on the shores of Lake Ontario, on that enticing acreage of sun and lake-kissed land called Prince Edward County... something besides blooming wildflowers and rosy sunsets; besides the wind in the dunes and cruising the country roads between wineries with the windows down. It's a chamber music festival nestled amongst all of that: Classical Unbound.

One of Canada's premier ensembles, the Ironwood Quartet, is running the show this year. Its members, Jessica Linnebach, Carissa Klopoushak, Julia MacLaine, and David Marks, are musicians with the National Arts Centre Orchestra who love escaping Ottawa and putting their hearts on the line for other musical ventures. They've been performing together as the Ironwood Quartet for nearly 5 years, receiving critical acclaim for their take on repertoire ranging from Haydn and Beethoven to avant-garde new music and originals. This year they've devised a bewitching mix of gorgeous string quartet music divided over three evenings.

Want to raise a glass of wine and be transported across the centuries? Choose a concert at one of the two award-winning wineries hosting Ironwood. Or go help raise the roof at the historic Old Church Theatre, joining for a genre-bending evening filled with singing, stomping, and wild solos!
